Frequently asked questions
Everything about bidding, the GiveForward Pledge, payments, and receipts. Can't find your answer? Ask Mira — the chat concierge in the corner — or email kindbid_support@crowdera.com.
›What is the GiveForward Pledge?
When you bid, you agree (checkbox is pre-checked, and the percentage is your choice within the organization's range — typically 5–25%, default 10%) that if you're outbid, that percentage of your highest bid becomes a donation to the cause. Every bid gives, even the ones that don't win.
›When am I charged?
That depends on the auction. In the standard mode, nothing is charged while you bid — you save a payment method before your first bid, and when the auction closes the winner pays their winning bid and outbid bidders' GiveForward pledges are collected. Some auctions collect the pledge at bid time instead — the bid panel tells you clearly before you bid, and anything you've paid counts toward your total if you win.
›What happens if I win?
Your saved payment method is charged for your winning bid when the auction closes, and you receive an acknowledgment with the item's fair market value for tax purposes. The organization then ships your item — you can follow fulfilment from your account page.
›What happens if I'm outbid?
If your GiveForward pledge was on, your chosen percentage of your highest bid becomes a donation to the organization, and you receive a donation receipt by email. You can keep bidding until the auction closes — late bids extend the clock a little so everyone gets a fair chance.
›Do I get a tax receipt?
Yes — receipts are issued automatically when a charge completes, matched to the organization's country: 80G receipts in India, IPC tax-deduction receipts in Singapore (where the organization holds IPC status), and 501(c)(3) acknowledgment letters in the US. For winning bids, the deductible portion is your bid minus the item's fair market value.
›Can I get a refund?
All transactions are final — winning bids and GiveForward donations alike. Refunds are made only for payment-gateway errors or confirmed fraud, and refund requests go directly to the organization running the auction.
›Is my payment information safe?
Card details never touch KindBid's servers. Payment methods are captured and stored by our payment partners (Razorpay in India, Stripe in Singapore and the US), and KindBid stores only a reference token and the last four digits.
›How do auctions end?
Each lot has a published end time. A bid in the final two minutes extends the auction by two minutes (up to a capped number of extensions) so nobody wins by sniping at the last second.
›Who runs the auctions?
Each auction is run by the nonprofit organization on its own KindBid page — the organization is the merchant of record, receives the funds, and issues the receipts. KindBid (an initiative of Crowdera) provides the platform.
›How can my organization run an auction on KindBid?
Head to the contact page and tell us about your cause — onboarding takes about 15 minutes and includes verification (PAN/80G in India, UEN in Singapore, EIN/501(c)(3) in the US) and payout setup. We currently support organizations in India, Singapore, and the US.
